Good morning, gentlemen!

As temperatures swelter, and the humidity makes you sweat within the walls of your own house, remaining fashion conscious still remains a must. There are multiple theories about how to wear loafers in the summer time, and I am here to calm all your worries. After reading from multiple sources, as well as my own knowledge as a southern gal, I have some answers for ya. So listen up!

Here in the South, men and boys alike, should own a nice pari of loafers. Horse-bit tend to carry a tad bit more class, but any loafer will do. While it may be “just a shoe,” there are certain ways that men should wear them…. Read below!

1. Loafers should be worn without  socks when wearing khakis. This look is classic in the South, especially among young business men, politicians, affluent families, and fraternity men.

2. Loafers without socks is more for casual occasions. The look can also be sported with jeans, as well as more sport-oriented pants (golf, etc.)

3. If wearing loafers for a more formal events, dress them up with a tan or brown sock.

4. Worried about your feet smelling? While socks so absorb moisture, there are foot powders that are just as, if not more effective to reduce wetness and odor. Just pour a little bit into each loafer before you leave, and kiss your worries goodbye!

5. Loafers are also seen sockless when sailing or at the beach. Out for a casual outing, look your best, but feel your best! Being comfortable always makes a man stand up a little taller.

While the temperatures might be dreadful, don’t let your “look” wilt.  A good southern man not only knows how to handle the heat, but he can look his best through it all.
